How to view the famous smear video in slow motion...

In my "In Defense of Elizabeth Lambert" post I talk about slowing the video down and watching it carefully.  Everyone might not know how to do this, so here is a little bit of Internet wizardry for you that might come in handy in life:



First you need to download the video.  The best version that I found is on youtube, so downloading could be a problem!  (Please let me know if you know somewhere to download a better copy)

Never fear, there are sites which can download youtube videos for you!  Personally, I prefer FlashLoad.

Choose which youtube video you want to download and copy the youtube url, that is the site address at the top of the page.  I reccomend you download the video that is found in my links section, as that one has a high image quality. 

Paste the url of the youtube video into the form on the FlashLoad page and follow the on screen instructions.  You will be able to download a high quality copy of the youtube video to your computer, there you can view it whenever you want, however you want, and you can also edit it if you want, etc!

BUT HOW DO I VIEW THE VIDEO IN SLOW MOTION?

This might seem obvious to some, but if you are having trouble viewing the video that you downloaded, or you don't know how to view it in slow motion (including frame by frame if you want), then the answer is simple.

You can watch the video in slow motion or even frame by frame with VLC Media Player.  Click the link to go download VLC Media Player, it is a free multimedia player that will play virtually any multimedia files you could possibly have on your computer and without needing any external codecs!  This is one of the greatest programs in the history of the Internet and one of the essential components of every Internet geek's arsenal, so if you didn't know about it already, now you do!  VLC Media Player is soooo great, it is simple, free, powerful, and it just WORKS.

Download VLC Media Player and install it.  Then, when you play your video in VLC Media Player you can slow it down or speed it up however slow or fast you want just click the little arrow buttons on the right and left side just below the video picture.

That's it.  Very simple, but I wrote it out in a lot of detail just to make it really clear.  (Maybe I'll add pictures later, to make it crystal.)
